How do I reinstate a suspended smartcard?

A:

If you've locked your smartcard PIN and see a PIN locked message on your reader you'll need to order a replacement smartcard.

If a smartcard has been suspended by entering repeated incorrect response codes from your reader into Bankline, there's a way to reinstate it.

Administrators can reinstate smartcards if they have a status of 'Suspended', although you cannot reinstate your own smartcard. If dual administration is switched on two administrators would be required to do this (not including the user who's smartcard is suspended).

To reinstate a smartcard:

  1. From the administration menu click 'Manage users'
  2. Find the user from the list and check their user status is 'Active', if it is then click their User ID
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click 'Edit roles/Smartcard'
  4. Confirm the smartcard status is 'Suspended' and click 'Reinstate smartcard' at the bottom of the page
  5. Next click 'Confirm reinstate Smartcard'
