What is a BIC?

A:

Bank Identification Code - also known as a SWIFT code or SWIFT address. This is a standard format that uniquely identifies a bank.

Note that BICs are 11 characters long – for example ULSBIE2DXXX

For SEPA payments, providing a BIC is optional as in most cases we can derive this from the beneficiary’s IBAN.
